Happy Mothers Day!!
Hello, and Happy Mothers Day to all Mothers, ( and Grandmothers ) out there today! It's been a great day, and I feel so spoiled! It's now about 10:30 pm for me..and this is perfect quiet time to get in a little more art before bed, while I finish up some laundry, and make plans for tomorrow!
I wanted to give a little sneak peek at what I am working on now, which is a star book with a handsewn binding that I started at a retreat a few weeks earlier. I lost my previous star books in the fire last year, so I decided to make a few new ones, and am excited to see what new ways I can improve on the old ones.
Here is a first peek, and I will show you along the way, until it's completion..and then we will discuss how you can make one of your own. These are awesome books that are well able to withstand a lot of use, and can double as a centerpiece for an event with great ease.
Also, I wanted to touch base on a question I was getting messaged on facebook concerning paint, and using them on paper crafting projects. I do tend to use a LOT of white, and black acrylic on the majority of my projects. I know people have asked about pens vs. brush, and to be honest, I love to use both. For the sake of mess control, if I am going to events, or in a hurry, I tend to carry a few aqua brushes ( it controls the amount of water kept around my workspace, and keeps mess to a minimum), but I also love paint markers. Now, for the record, not all paint markers are created equal, and many people have their preferences. For me, it is the montana acrylic markers. They come in multiple nib sizes, lots of colors ( also offer empty to make your own ) can take a beating, they are refillable, and for the buck, they are (to me) the best value.
(For those asking for the markers, they are available at Blicks art supply, and to the right I have provided a link to their online store,)
I hope you all enjoy the rest of your holiday, I am off to fold laundry, and get to bed. Another big day ahead for tomorrow!!
Now, go CREATE something!
